The roots of Tutt Contracting, Inc. reach into the early 1970’s. Preston Tutt Sr. worked on Fort Gordon Army Base and supplemented his income by demolishing residential houses in Richmond County and selling the reclaimed material. As young teens, during summer break, Princeton and Preston Tutt would follow their father to demolition sites, clean bricks and pull nails from old lumber. However, it was on the Army Base that Princeton and Preston learned that money could be made from recycling. During summer breaks when there were no demolition sites, Princeton and Preston would follow their father to Fort Gordon and would collect drink bottles to redeem. At the base the young teens discovered an abundant supply of aluminum cans and began gathering for resale. There were enough cans being collected that Preston Sr. began driving a larger truck. 

A lot has changed since the early years of riding with our Dad to Fort Gordon. We have managed a successful Roll-Off business that is second to none. We created an opportunity from just a vision, acquired property, and zoned that property to fit our needs, something that “everyone” said would be impossible. We were granted a state issued Solid Waste Handling Permit from Georgia Environmental Protection Division, equally impossible to get. Secured highly sought after contracts and today we are back at Fort Gordon not picking through the trash for aluminum cans, but hauling roll-off trash containers for the Army Post Exchange. 

Even with all of the changes we’ve gone through, we cannot walk passed an aluminum can without picking it up. Some things never change. 

Tutt Contracting was founding in 2000. Since that first project in 2001, the company has grown steadily. In 2003, the small recycling company know today as Tutt Contracting, Inc. was Incorporated. In the years since that time, the company has grown to be one of the most respected contractors in the Augusta area. 

Today, Tutt Contracting continues to operate as a family owned business. Many things have changes since the company first started, but not our dedication to providing professional services, hard work and dedication to completing projects in a safe, cost effective, and timely manner, which continues to be the primary objective of our company. Combining our equipment with our vast experience, people and strong reputation we have the resources to honor any commitment we enter into.
